Straight answers

What people actually want to know

How much does whitening cost?+

Professional take-home whitening with custom trays and gel starts at $350. Refill gel afterwards costs much less because you keep the trays. Whitening is cosmetic, so insurance does not cover it. Bite Club members get 15 percent off.

Does it work on everyone?+

No. Whitening lifts staining inside natural enamel, so it works on coffee, tea, red wine and age-related yellowing. It does nothing to crowns, veneers, white fillings or internal discolouration. We look first and tell you honestly.

Is shop-bought whitening as good?+

Strips use weaker gel and a tray that does not fit you, so the gel sits against the gum instead of the tooth. They lighten a little and irritate more. A custom tray is the real difference.

Will my teeth be sensitive?+

Often, mildly, for a day or two after each application, and it settles. Sensitivity toothpaste for two weeks beforehand helps, and we can drop the concentration.

The longer answer on teeth whitening

Whitening, bonding or veneers?

Whitening changes colour only, and is by a wide margin the cheapest option. Cosmetic bonding repairs a chip or closes a small gap in one visit. Veneers change shape, colour, length and apparent alignment together, and are right when several of those are wrong at once. Being talked down from veneers to whitening is a normal outcome of a consultation here.

Whiten before you restore

Crowns, veneers and white fillings do not lighten. Whiten first, let the shade settle for two weeks, then match the restoration to the shade you intend to keep.

Making it last

  • The first 48 hours matter most. Coffee, tea, red wine and tomato sauce go straight back into freshly opened enamel.
  • Expect a top-up of a few nights once or twice a year. You keep the trays, so the cost is gel only.
  • Have a cleaning first. Surface stain comes off mechanically and does not need bleaching.

Step by step

What is bothering you, and which option actually fits.

  2. Look properly

Examination, x-rays where needed, and a digital scan.

  3. Agree the plan

    Written costs before anything starts.

  4. Treat

Booked at a time that suits you.

Questions about teeth whitening

Asked and answered

Can I whiten with crowns on my front teeth?+

You can whiten the natural teeth, but restorations stay the colour they are. We show you which is which first.

In-office or take-home?+

Faster, not better. A well-used take-home course reaches a comparable shade and holds better because it is gradual.

Is it safe for enamel?+

Professionally supervised whitening does not damage enamel. Unsupervised high-strength gel in an ill-fitting tray is what causes trouble.
