Same-day crowns
Same-day crowns in Bradenton
A crown normally takes two visits, a goopy impression and two weeks in a temporary. We scan, mill and cement yours the same day.

What people actually want to know
How long does a same-day crown take?+
About two hours in one appointment. You are numb for the preparation, the scan takes a few minutes, the crown mills while you wait, and it is cemented before you leave. You do not come back for a second visit.
Does a same-day crown last as long as a lab crown?+
Yes. Both are ceramic and both are bonded the same way. The difference is where the crown is made, not what it is made of. With regular cleanings and a night guard where grinding is a factor, expect ten to fifteen years or more.
What does a crown cost at Lake Dental?+
Most patients pay between $900 and $1,600 per crown before insurance. Dental plans typically cover 50 percent once your deductible is met. Bite Club members get 15 percent off. You get the exact figure in writing after your exam and x-ray, before we start.
Do you still need a temporary crown?+
No. The temporary crown exists to protect the tooth while a lab makes the real one. Because we make yours in the office, there is nothing to protect and nothing to fall off over a weekend.
The longer answer on same-day crowns
When a crown is the right answer
A crown covers the whole tooth. Dr. Stanisic recommends one when there is not enough healthy tooth left to hold a filling: a large old filling that has cracked, a tooth that has had a root canal, a fracture line running down a cusp, or heavy wear from grinding. If a filling will hold, we do the filling. Conservative dentistry is the practice's stated approach, and a crown is only offered when the tooth genuinely needs the coverage.
What happens on the day
- Exam and x-ray. We confirm the tooth needs a crown rather than a filling, and check the root and the bone underneath.
- Numbing and preparation. The damaged structure is removed and the tooth is shaped so the crown seats properly.
- Digital scan. A handheld 3D scanner reads the tooth. No tray, no impression material, nothing to gag on.
- Milling. The crown is cut from a ceramic block in the office. You wait in the chair, with a blanket, a pillow and Netflix if you want them.
- Fit, adjust, cement. We check the bite, polish the crown and bond it. You eat normally that evening.
Same-day crowns and dental anxiety
Two appointments means two rounds of anticipation. For anxious patients, collapsing that into one visit is often the single biggest thing we can do. Virtual reality headsets, blankets, pillows and entertainment are available at every appointment, and Dr. Stanisic will stop any time you ask.
Aftercare
The anaesthetic wears off in two to three hours. Eat on the other side until it does. After that, brush and floss the crown exactly like a natural tooth. Floss down and out rather than snapping it up, so the edge is not lifted. Call us if the bite feels high after a day or two, as a small adjustment takes five minutes and prevents soreness.

Questions about same-day crowns
Asked and answered
Is a same-day crown more expensive?+
No. We charge the same for a same-day crown as we would for a lab crown. You are saving the second appointment, not paying for the technology.
Can every tooth get a same-day crown?+
Most can. Teeth needing a root canal first, or a crown on an implant with a custom abutment, may need more than one visit. We tell you which applies before you book, not after you arrive.
Will it match my other teeth?+
The ceramic block is shade-matched to the teeth either side before milling, then stained and glazed. On front teeth we take extra time over this and will remake it if the match is not right.
What if my crown breaks?+
Call 941.322.7711. Broken crowns are treated as an emergency and we keep same-day slots open for exactly this.
Need a crown without the two-week wait?
Tell us which tooth is bothering you and we will book the exam and the crown in the same appointment where we can.
